What is Guided Imagery?

Guided Imagery is an approach that uses the “mind’s eye” to support healing.  It can be used to aid in relaxation, reduce stress, anxiety, pain, fatigue, and many other things.  In addition to the psychological benefits, it has also been shown to improve respiration, heart rate, blood pressure, metabolic rate, hormone levels, and immune activity. 

In Guided Imagery, you will be led to imagine all of the details of a particularly relaxing setting.   You will be encouraged to use all of your senses to mentally transport yourself to this place.  When you imagine yourself feeling calm, relaxed, and happy you cannot feel stressed at the same time.
